I have been losing "low living" contents of my saltwater tank and have been told that a pistol shrimp( or pistol shrimps) in my live rock are the culprit.
    1. As part of good housekeeping I blow the detris/dust off my live rocks and through the holes 1-3 times a week. Is this a good thing or am I making matters worse?

    2. My understanding is that these little guys are night dwellers, and I find it interesting that everyone is present and accounted for before "lights out" and only the next morning is someone missing.

    3. What can I do to remedy this situation? Can I trap it ? Can I add another animal that will , given nature's law EAT THE SHRIMP without consuming the other tank inhabitants?

    4. What should I look for in the rock? in the sandbed ? to know I have one or multiple pistols in my tank?

any help would be greatly appreciated

good luck getting it out a pistol, clever little basterds they are. they best way i have seen to get rid of crabs was on youtube.com, a guy had problem crab [not sure if it was a pistol] so he set up a small explosive in the front of the tank, waited for the crab to crawl arcoss then...BOOM! haha it was pretty funny
