    Wow, so I introduce a new, fairly large Scott's Fairy wrasse to my 165gallon after 1/2hr of acclimation this afternoon, and this stupid fish swims right into my 20 inch carpet anemone. Now every fish in my tank (cept' the Clarke) knows better then this. WTF? I mean don't most fish know what to avoid? I guess not. :-[ (pretty stupid fish if ya ask me)

    So, after seeing this, I instantly reach into the tank (34 inches deep), no gloves on, and try to grab the wrasse, my carpet anemone has the kung fu grip from hell on this poor wrasse- and the wrasse he's 6 inches or better- and could not escape, the anemone grabed him so fast it was like somthing out of a comic book, so I am fighting for this wrasse's life - I get the carpet to finally give up the wrasse, poor guy is covered in stinger coat- what to do? Man I wish I had a video of this.

    Mind you my hand is nearly numb from getting stung. So I get the wrasse out and get him into a collection cup and take a wet towel (tank water) and wipe/rinse him off, add a little slime coat and let him sit 15 mins.

    At first he (the wrasse) was- like WTFJH!!!!!! Then I put him in my 45 gallon coral tank to help him out and what does he do? He takes one lap around the tank, and, He then promptly eats one of my Pepermint shrimp.

    Now I am like WTFJH?

    Perhaps, just perhaps, maybe this wrasse should have been anemone bait after all?

    How lucky can one fish be? Becomes a meal gets saved, then becomes the hunter and a great meal, all in less then 1 hrs time.

    What a day! :eek:

    Wow, that's crazy! Not all fish know to leave a nem alone, I guess after, he must have needed to vent some anger :-/

    Update;

    I am sad to report the demise of the 6 inch Wrasse. My efforts to save him failed.

    What have I learned, some fish are very stupid. I feel very bad because I have never had this happen in the 12 years I have been at this hobbie.

    I guess we learn new things every day, but at this price- I think I will pass on these types of lessons.

    One for the files.

    Oh and BTW, I sent the wrasse back to the carpet- he ate him in less then 3 mins. heck of a meal for the carpet I guess.

    I'm sorry that your wrasse died.

    I hate to say it, but you need to make sure your animals are compatible. Alot of people overlook this.

    Really only clownfish are anemone safe, especially with carpets.
