With the advent of better and better wavemakers and controllable pumps, Is there still anyone out there using one on their home tank?

I was playing around with the idea for the past couple of days and threw a 2.5 gallon version together today for the heck of it. Works decently, but I really need the tank higher up to get a more violent flow.

I was tempted to make one a few years ago, but thought it would be way too noisy so opted for powerheads. Just got a vortech mp40w and love it.

I have a vortech and love it. I just wanted to play a little. It ended up costing me about 3 bucks in plumbing parts and thats it. Everything else, I already had.

I works and is kind of noisy, if you had no other noise in your room. Personally, I can barely hear mine over my light fans.

As for what it does for the tank, i'm not sure yet. However, my fish love it. They will swim from across the tank to take a ride on the wave.
