I've been gone for the Memorial weekend, 5 days total. Husband home with the tank and the dog. Got home from work tonight, feed, clean skimmer cup, top off, the usual. Can't find the blennie- ANYWHERE! Looked through the rockwork with a flashlight, the over flow, everywhere I can think of. No signs of carnage, no signs of anything unusual. So, what next? Being dead is almost better than vanished! Any suggestions on how to determine what may have happened? Anywhere else I should look? My last addition to the tank was 3 months ago, some mushrooms. All the fish, 7 total, are the original residents from 1 year ago. No one has been sick, or off color, or listless, or anything. Just did a water change and chemistry about 2 weeks ago, nothing off. I'm so bummed...

Look behind the tank--maybe jumped out?? Do you have a clean up crew?? If you do and he died, you will not find anything.....Best of Luck

Nope- glass tops. Clean up crew probably took care of him. The only place I haven't looked is in the hose for the overflow into the sump, it's probably big enough to suck him up. But the water flow is good, no gurgling or signs of a blockage. Maybe I'll do my chemistry tomorrow and see if anything shows up there. Looks like a fishy funeral.

Mine is 3 1/2" long in a 29gal tank. I lose him often. He blends right in and I've found I can be looking at him and not even know. I was great at "Where's Waldo" but "Where's Blenny" owns me :shifty:

clean up crew most likely took care of him before you even noticed he was gone..a few months back i had a clown die in the middle of the night..by morning the only thing my hermits left was his bones..at least they're doing their job!

I haven't seen my neon goby in a week, my ammonia recently spiked. I suspect that he passed, the clean up crew took care of the big stuff, the rest is in the ammonia.

Have you looked in the sump? It's probably a long shot, but I guess it could happen if he jumped in the overflow box. Our blenny has been known to disappear for a bit, but he always magically appears at feeding time.

Let us know if you ever figure it out.

Nothing as of this morning. I'll check again after work. I really don't want to tear down a bunch of stuff, but if he's alive somewhere stuck, I feel obligated to rescue him- he's such a great addition to the tank! I did check all around the outside of the tank, even with the covers, but nothing. The other remote possibility is he's in the rockwork stuck, because my goby does tend to cause a rockslide digging underneath. If I find him, I'll post.

I found him in the overflow- just as happy as can be! Can't get him out though, I've been fishing for 3 hours now- I'm bored with it, and he's playing hide and seek. I'm thinking hook and line next...;D
