Hi, well i received my candy cane coral today and it was starting to show parts of his skeleton (i believe) now that the lights are off it has diminished in size and white spikes are starting to pop out where the coral is, is this the skeleton? can it get better or should i start asking for my guarantee? now i placed it in the top part of tank, it is more or less 5" from the water surface. where should i place it.

you can see the spikes i believe to be the skeleton popping out, is this normal or is it dying?

id leave it alone.. it doesnt look terrible and will more than likely come back.. I had a candy cane buried in my sand upside down with glove polyps growing all around it and it was probably only .5 of an inch big.. then 5 months later i decided to cut it out when it was on its last limb and move it... now its about 2 inches and has already split twice. So im assuming yours will come back.

Nearly all lps' tissue will recede when the lights go out and will "reinflate" when the lights come back on. Your coral looks perfectly fine.
