I have heard/read somewhere on 3reef here that Aqueon uses tempered glass RANDOMLY. You are gonna have to make sure that the glass you wanna drill is not tempered.

This is one of the tricks to tell the glass is tempered or not.
    Get items below:
    -a pair of polarized glasses
    -a laptop computer

If you look through the back window of your car, you see some strange pattern with the polarized glasses. All the car back glass is tempered. Nowadays, Chevy/GMC uses tempered glass on the side windows as well. They are always marked as tempered at the corner of the glass.

Now make the computer desktop all white. ie: empty window on your browser. Place it inside of the empty tank that you wanna drill. Take a look at the display through the glass that you wanna drill. If you see some strange looking wave pattern, the glass is tempered.

    I hope this helps.

Call Aqueon. The bottom is definitely tempered glass on a 37. The sides may not be though.

I just drilled an aqueon 29 gallon yesterday and it wasnt tempered. You would think that they would put tempered glass stickers on the sections that were tempered to help us out. But I've also read about aqueon tempering more than just the bottom so they hold up better during shipping.
