does it regroup after it falls apart? It seems like something is building a burrow. Using mucus to hold the outside together which would explain why as soon as you touch it, it falls apart.

here is a thought... Make it fall apart totally, come back in a hour or so and watch and see what happens. If you dont see anything, turn off the lights and some other ambient light in the room where you can see that area. If something is buildiing that, it will rebuild it.

I've seen this sort of thing at the beach at low tide. I thought it looked like sand that had been excreted by a snail or something that shape, and stuck together with a slimy coating. As soon as you touch it, it falls apart. Any snails that size in your tank?

I have about 40 different kinds of snails in the tank and no I don’t have any Wrasses.
Here what I did last night I rearranged my rock because I had originally had to many dead spots and not enough surface area for my corals. I completely destroyed the two funyuns.....lol that I had and no one tried to rebuild anything last night..... I was up until about 12 am looking and searching.

Those "funyuns" are sand collars. Some type of mollusk eggs. Commonly being moon snails. I found them on the net... Just do a search on sand collar.
