Can nuisance algae grow with....

    Can bad algae such as hair etc ... grow on phosphate alone? ANd everything else is at zero?

    I think the answer to your question is yes - certainly cyano can. Most people get phosphates (and slilicates) by using tap water.

    ive found if you let Rodi water sit long enough in a home depot bucket that it will pick up phosphates as well.

    Really:eek:, thats interesting..what about those blue rubbermaid containers.Will that happen with all plastic containers?

    This is true, however I do not think it continues. Even new tanks leech phosphates from the new glass, but it slows to a stop after a short while.

    I keep 40 or so gallons of RO/DI on hand at all times and I always test before I use the water - I also use the same plastic tubs.

    I keep a 20 gallon tub of RODI water handy and I have not had an issue with phosphates. The key is not to rise the tub out with tap water after every use. A little salt on the bottom that didn't dissolve won't hurt the next batch of water and as long as you test the water before adding it to the tank, you should be fine :)

    This what I do also. Never thought to test it for phos just TDS.well i will now test...thanks
