Ok. So I am a completely newbie when it comes to saltwater! My tank is about 4 months old, fully cycled 33 gallon tank, parameters are perfect! I have a 40-60 gallon hang on back filter, a 40 gal canisters filter, a prizm protein skimmer, heater, powerhead, 30-35 lbs of established live rock... now I was wondering if it would be safe to remove one of the filters? because it looks horable having all of those filter intakes sticking down in the back of my aquarium. Would it be safe to remove one of the filters? And which one?
This is what I have for inhabitants:
    2 clown fish
    1 fire fish
    1 damsel fish
    1 cleaner wrasse
    1 left handed hermit
    1 blue legged hermit
    3 blue nuckle hermits
    1small frag of star polyps

    what filter should I remove?

transform the hang on back to a refugium IMO and make sure you keep that cannister filter clean, there not really suited for saltwater set ups but as long as its clean it should work for now.

Yea, but I want to remove one of them because I have a bunch of intake tubes coming down the back of the glass. Should I remove the canister filter then?

i would pull the hang on back if anything. the cannister is probably doing more than that.
+1 get a nice protein skimmer and then there wont be a need for that cannister.

At the moment I don't have $100-$200 to spend on a protein skimmer. I'm just really tied between which one I should remove.

I was thinking removing the caniser because the hang on back filters a larger amount of water. It's rated for up to 60gals and the canister is only rated for up to 40gals. But the hang on back as an ugly lip you can see and a larger intake tube. But the canister filters in 3 ways instead of just 2 and is more sleek looking. See, I don't know, I'm at a cross road here!

I would just run the skimmer & get rid of the other two filters. The canister filter run it with carbon only if you want to polish the water. Other than that your skimmer & live rock will be fine. You don't have that much water, 33gal tank depending on the live rock you have 25gal tops of water.
