Ok – I like it now. I just wanted to make sure the height of the refugium was above the water line, preferable above the power-outage line. Of course, when power drops the tank will drain to the sump until the siphon break. I would not want to see water back up into the refugium and stir it up. You do not want it disturbed once its underway. Good luck

Got ya! Yeah, I will more than likely make the water level a little lower overall but make sure to keep the fuge the highest. I think I have a good rough idea on what I am looking at now. If there happen to be any other suggestions anybody let me know.

What you’re suggesting looks really great – I see that your using an in-sump skimmer, just be sure that the baffles on the skimmer side are at least the recommended height for that model – they can be higher, you would just need to stick something under it then. Possible additions may include an in line heater on the return and an auto top off into the center section if you don’t already have something in place. Enjoy - the building is one of the best parts in the hobby.
    Cheers

Ok, I will keep these things in mind. And yes I do have an ATO that will be incorporated.

your sketch looks a lot better now. The post above from skylark concerning the baffle height for the skimmer is awesome advice too.

Yes you can!! My tank is 8 foot long.I have 2 returns and 2 overflows at the right side of my tank I cut the skim comb down a little bit more than the overflow on the left side of tank. The reason is because The return on the left side of the tank produces more water than the return on the right because the one on the right goes through my uv sterilizer and chiller which require about 275-350 gph to work effectively. My power heads equal out everything in the flow of the tank.

dont have any experience with sumps but

    could you do this?

Or have another pump going from the fuge back to the tank (click the pic an it get bigger)

would need to put the fuge above the sump unless you get anothe rpump
