    did you check your other parameters? just fyi, if the ammonia, nitrite or nitrates are very high, snails may die and pollute the water.

    good job at getting a QT set up! don't bother with a 10 gallon if you can do a 20 gallon (long). the longer the better so you can keep fish happy swimming. :)

    for QT, you will need a tank(longest in length as possible), a heater, a thermometer, a simple sponge filter (no carbon, because you may need to use copper or other treatments), and some basic lighting (so the fish can see their food). you will also need separate hydrometer, nets, etc so you do not contaminate your display tank supply with disease (i know, it's such a bother!).

    this is good advise, I need to build a quarantine tank too.... time to see what I have in the garage that will hack it!
