I think I know what stalled my cycle! About a week and a half ago my pH dropped down to unditectable levels. The next day it was back up to 7.8. Since then my nitrites have stayed at 2. Could this be what happend? My pH has been stable at 7.8 since.

    Thanks.

How long have you been cycling? Were the nitrites climbing, stable, or falling when the pH drop happened?

I've been cycling for 3 weeks. My ammonia climbed to about 3 and then dropped. Then my trites rose to 2(this is when pH dropped) and held for 1 1/2 weeks. It might be because I removed a powerhead and put it back in.

I think the nitrite has just peaked, it will hang a bit before it starts drop (bacteria population has advanced enough to keep up with nitrites, needs to grow a little more to reduce them). I'd give it a few more days and see what happens. I don't think you've "stalled" the cycle at all, that would imply you've stopped the production of bacteria and stopped the existing bacteria from "eating".

From what I understand (at least for FW but it should be the same) ph drops will "shut off" beneficial bacteria until it gets back to normal. ( I had this happen to me in my FW, fortunately I caught it and no fish died!)
