Yup! That would be a good idea. But keep in mind the glass used for aquariums is low in iron content to prevent the green tone of the glass. Look into using low iron glass specifically for aquariums if you want a true show tank. But again, that wont be cheap. Anything in this hobby can nickle and dime you to death. Haha. You can also look into ordering your glass from glasscages.com. I havent done it personally but you can order low iron glass cut to specific dimensions for a decent price. Also, the silicone used to build the tank obviously matters, you can only use aquarium safe 100% silicone. If it doesnt say its good for aquariums, ITS NOT GOOD FOR AQUARIUMS. Even 100% silicone can still have fungicides, which will kill your inhabitants.

    Good info :)

Isn't glasscages located in Tennessee? Do they deliver? Their prices seem very reasonable, though. I looked into them before, but I just wasn't sure if they delivered to Florida.

I'm also not sure if I could afford Starphire glass, because I'm starting to think of a tank that woulb be about 20" or 24" high x 48" long x 24" deep. Would 3/8 inch plate glass work for that? I'm just worried about viewing room with the tank only being 14" tall :-/

I dont think you would need Starphire glass, although it is really nice. Just low iron glass would be good. 3/8 should be good for that but I would get a second opinion just to be safe. They should be able to ship to Florida no problem. If you are going to build a tank that size it would be cheaper to just buy a 55 gallon tank, especially when Petco has their dollar per gallon sale. They have similar dimesions anyway.

I'll see how much it would be to ship to Florida ;)

When I calculated to tank dimensions of a 24x24x48 tank, it was almost 120 gallons. Am I wrong?

Derp. You are correct. You really want to go that big?

Well, like I said, it will be a little while until this happens. I'm just trying to get an idea of the cost :)

I might practice building with a shallow nano tank (I'm thinking a Maxi Mini tank, but other ideas are definitely welcome :)). I built a stand in my carpentry class for fun at first, but I might stick with a tank that is the same dimensions as the stand (26"x17"x maybe 8 or 10" tall) and I made sure to make enough room for a DIY sump, and made a little shelf for dosing pumps, if it ever became necessary, as well as other supplies. I'll take a pic of the stand when I'm back in school ;)

    Bump for anyone interested.

Also, here's the vid of the one Aiptasia Anemone in my tank:

I was told that some Peppermint Shrimp don't eat Aiptasia. Is that true? I was planning on getting one or two.

Liked your videos Cam....I would suggest you zap that aptasia with kalk (inject it) or that aptasia X - rather than wait and get shrimp and such....just my .02.

    Thanks!

How do I get or make kalk paste? It would take the same amount of time to get Aiptasia X as it would to get peppermint shrimp since I have to go to my LFS anyways, and they are having a special on the shrimp right now (3 for $10), so would it be better to get Aiptasia X?

Also, how would I inject it into the Anemone?
