He probably has a password to block other ppl "hacking" into his wireless network. He needs to add your computer to his network. Luna

The first thing I would check is to make sure, on your dads computer, that yours is not being blocked. You may have to go to the master account and allow access to your computer. The next thing I would do is to make sure all the connections on your PC our set to "auto connect" or similar. You may have change settings for the different ISP, etc.

ok the problem is most likely the Default settings on your router. you need to plug a computer into it with a wire to set it up. Next open a web browser and type the default Router IP (it will be in the paperwork for your router or on the router itself) most likely it will be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1

when you type that win it will bring you to a "web Page" that you can change the routers setting with.

*edit* or you can go to command prompt and type "Ipconfig" and that will give you the routers IP address. *edit*

    LEts get this straight.

Your dad had a wirless router
You want to add your wireless router to it in order to use it?

Is that correct ? This can be done but is not a plug and play scenario.
What are you looking to do is to use this router and not use your dads wireless connection ?

Most likley you tried to connect and couldnt and thought if you added you router it would be easier, not lilkley.

If you are just looking to go to your dads and bring you laptop with wireless and use it while you are there, you just need the following.

1.) SSID of the wireless network If Verizon installed it for you dad it is likley the default for the router type.
2.) If the verizon rep actually added security to it, (not likley, but possible) you will nee the WEP or PSK that was configured.
3.) The wireless router will need to be set for DHCP or you will need a valid IP address to add to your system to use.

You could boot up your dads wireless, look at the net config and use the settings from there. The only thing you could not obtain is the PSK unless you can select " Dont Mask PSK" You dad should have a set up sheet from Verizon to copy. Depending on your OS, Linux, XP, or Vista you will have different results.

    Does this make sense ?

What does this have to do with Fish ? who knows, but I'm bored..

    \Cheers

I think its got something to do with WEP incryption!! most wireless networks are on an encryption as mentioned above , the lady across the road here i can tap into hers with my sony psp quite easily!! lol
