I want to automate my Ca and Alk. I have a 29 gall tank with 10 gall sump and 2.5 gall fuge. I have a couple sps and many lps and softies. What would be the best way for me to keep my Ca up and my ph up? I was thinking either a Ca reactor, Kalk stirrer connected in line with my ATO system or a triple peristaltic dosing pump with two part and mag. What's your opinion?

For a 29 gallon, IMO, a reactor is too much money and too much trouble. IME, it would be cheaper and easier to go with the pumps.

I've been dosing with the pumps for about a year now. Some folks claim reactors = less user intervention. That's simply not true. My guess is they haven't actually used the pumps. In the past year I've had to mix up the jugs of solution 2 or 3x - but once the timers were dialed in, I have not messed with the pumps/timers since the beginning.

I hear "set it and forget it" as a pro for reactors... thing is, that is equally true of the pumps.

We'll have to talk. I'm dosing everyday.
