I am looking to buy a nice Superman Montipora coral preferably from Divers Den Live Aquaria. Since I have never ordered online and with the cold winter weather should I wait till Spring? Would the coral be ok with the shipping? Live Aquaria just had one last week but I missed it. It looked like the polyps were more on the brown side. Are they typically more brown than red?

That is an expensive coral to risk buying in this weather. I have not ordered much online however I can tell you one of the stores in my area refuses to place an order right now due to the extreme cold

There is a LFS about an hour from me that has a 3 x 1 inch frag. I still have to get up there to see it. I just like Live Aquaria's 15day guarantee. Others have said that their stuff is nicer than in the LFS.

Most big places like that pack for the weather. It is not the first time that winter has come around... :)

If they have a 15 day guarantee, then i think you could go ahead and buy it. if its DOA then you have nothing to lose!! except for a little frustration, thats all

well I am getting my superman monti tomorrow;D One of the guys at the LFS is fragging me some of his and he is coming to do work on my tank so I even get it delivered::)

I guess my biggest concern is that they just frag it and ship it without allowing time for the frag to heal. Supermans are a slow growing monti and is a little more sensitive then just your typical monti cap. I would just hate to have to use the "arrive alive" guarantee because that meant something did not survive! But they do ship large quantities of things in the wintertime so it is a choice you would have to make yourself

I think they hold everything for either 2 or 3 weeks before they put it on Divers Den
