I read that the non Neptune pH probes cause issues with the apex. Is this true? Will the pinpoint pH probe be just fine with an Apex? I can get a sweet deal on an apex w/ pipoint probe, but if it means risking the apex's quality and functionality, I will not buy it.

I've never tried but from understanding they won't work with the apex and will corrupt the software on the Apex unit.

That makes 2 different people telling me this. Normally, I would want more people taking the bad side of an argument to make me go with them. However, since this is an expensive piece of equipment, 2 is plenty. I will not be buying the apex w/ the probe.

Thats a good call. I dont know much about controllers but I have heard the same thing as well. Better not risk it for that big chunk of change.

Sweet controller BTW... Still working on the programming for my new one.

I will have to check the brand of PH probe that I have running on mine. It is an old one off of my Milwauki controller. I have had no issues with it yet (only running for a week).

Oh ya, I should say I have an Apex and love it...I have multiple systems running on it with multiple probes...I always go with the Neptune probes as the will stand behind anything the sell.

I may buy from aquacave and use the 10% off coupon. Makes it just barely more expensive than the one with the free pinpoint probe from tb aquatics.

I use the pH probes from Bulk reef supply without problems, and know others who have done the same. Just like any probe, you just have to calibrate them with the appropriate solution, and then you're set.

Checked mine. Pinpoint PH probe. Seems to be working with no issues.

My apex works great with the pinpoint probe. I recommend going through marine depot. They will price match tb aquatics 5 percent off for the holiday and give you the free ph probe. Just remember to not dod what I did and remove the probe cover. Works better.
