buy or not buy?

I went to petco, and I saw a nice looking desjardini sailfin tang. I asked them the price, and since they don't know the difference between a regular and a desjardini, they said it was $37.99. I would have bought it since it looked fairly healthy(just a little thin), but I am worried my yellow tang would kill such a nice fish. The yellow tang is pretty big, and somewhat aggressive, the sailfin tang a little bit smaller but looks pretty healthy. So should I buy or not buy?

 

I wouldn't buy a tang from petco, for being a huge chain story their return policy SUCKS! why? because for saltwater they don't accept returns.

And besides they go for $40 at most LFS around here at least.

 

In a 100 Gallon, I wouldn't risk it. Great buy, but your yellow will most likely kill it. I wouldn't mix those two in anything less than 150.

 

That was the other downside that it was from petco. I haven't seen a desjardini at lower than $60 at my lfs, and they did mention not having a return policy but neither does my lfs.

 

I guess I've made up my mind, so I won't buy it. Can I add a kole or tomini tang, or is the yellow tang the only tang that I could fit in there?

 

Both of those should get along fine with a yellow and stay quite small.

 

i saw a kole at petco the other day that looked like a ghost.... i feel bad for their fish. Not bad enough to put them in my tank though

 

I've never bought a fish from petco, I just wanted to see what it looked like from the inside. Which of the two tangs is better?

 

All the FW fish from petco i bought all died and thats definatley a bad sighn but ive never bought any SW from there

 

As far as I can tell, they are identical in temperament. Stay the same size. Only difference I can find is the Tomini is known to eat diatoms.
