I was doing a water change and decided to use a heater in the salt mix i made. I did not notice the heater burning the plastic of the plungers that hold the heater in place. i already did the water change

Should i do another large water change just incase. will the burnt plastic poison my water?

    edit: just re-read your post.

Out in the ocean plastic in the water column does terrible things to the ecosystem so I can only assume that a similar situation would occur in a confined tank.

However, wait for more opinions before you rush into anything.

I presume this means you forgot to unplug it when doing the water change? So it ended up out of the water and was melting? I'd toss it simply due to it having a greater likelihood to fail.
