Building up your copepod numbers

    So I just have a nano, so I use a hob sump/refugium, so here you can see I have stuffed the inlet with filter foam, I learned this from my buddy he has a over flow, and has cut a piece of foam slightly larger the the over flow box and placed it in to prevent pods from being lost to fast

    Cool idea. Does your flow rate slow down with all that foam?

    yea substantially, but its an acc110 (aquaclear) on a 20 gallon so it works out great cause the flow would be way too powerful, also nylon stocking works the same and doesnt slow flow rate

    At least now I know what those white tiny things I've seen on my glass of the tank are.

    So This is three days, sorry the first pic is burry, but you can see my glass is now covered in pods!! each day it seems like there are more and more, and everyone realy loves the "fresh food" in my tank hahaha

    Not here to rain on you parade but Copepods in our tanks are limited by silicates. It's not likely that the pods are from the floss, but more likely from an increase in silica. Populations will bounce back to much less once the silica is depleted.

    That is because your Copepods and phytoplankton are using them up so they don't register. You can't argue with biology

    not trying to argue lol, 0 silicates in the water i use i have tested
