I checked on my tank after lights out, as I do every night, and I noticed hundreds, maybe thousands of little, gray, flea like bugs crawling around everywhere. Parts of my rock looked as if it were moving. I noticed them on my GSP, zoas and birds-nest as well. I'm not sure what these are, and I can't get a picture, but they just hatched tonight.

I have not added anything new to my tank in probably 3 weeks, fwiw.

From what it sounds like they are copepods. Definately beneficial. Actually jealous you have them... :p. From what I know they have not been known to harm any coral of any sort.

That was my first inkling, but why the sudden "outbreak" after having been setup for a year and a half? I've had amphipods in my rock and copepods on my glass, but these look different and just "hatched" today.

They don't look like shrimp babies, but I can't rule out the others.

I thought snails at first, but they don't move around like snails. The crawl like termites.

I had the same thing still do at times they are just pods not sure what kind but they have never hurt anything in the tank. I think they eat the algae and stuff that gets caught beween the corals. They seem to go mostly on Zoas and my green star polyps. I am no expert but maybe they just clean them up:)

Great insight, thanks. That was my guess too. They kind of remind me of a gnat.
