I picked up a 4" RBTA off craigslist yesterday. My tank is currently doing good, little to no algae, fish stocking has beent he same and doing great for months on end. The RBTA is secured tightly but all deflated and wrinkled up. Bear in mind I know what anenomes look like when acclimating/stressed. This is the same look my GBTA had while it withered away over a few months.

How can I have 20 heads of frogspawn, palys, yumas, a condylactis, etc. that is all doing well, and for some reason the bubble tips are having issues??

The craziest thing is, you should have seen the tank i picked it up from, he had like 5 of the RBTA in a 300 gallon tank covered in hair algae. I think my tank is definitely in better shape... What is the reason for this?

    Congrats on your new BTA.

Since you have had one before you know that they deflate and inflate.

You got it yesterday so I would just be happy it's footed and let it acclimate before becoming too concerned.

It may need more time to adjust to the better water quality and perhaps lighting for that matter.

My green BTA is struggling also. He just seems to be constantly deflated and I can always see his mouth. I have had him for about a month and I have NEVER seen him the same as when I bought him. And he was pretty much in very little light and no flow apart from a LFS return.

My water quality is good. My lighting is good enough for SPS, so is my flow. So im having no idea.

I just keep trying to feed him peices of muscle every 2 - 3 days and hes still surviving.

He has de-footed a couple of times and floated around the tank to eventually re-foot somewhere else. Just make sure he doesn't go anywhere hear you powerheads.

I'm subscribed and will be following along.

Well it still hasnt de-footed, however its just been hanging out upside down on this ledge in my tank. I wouldnt be so concerned if it was deflated, however it is looking like it is shrinked and wrinkly. The same look my GBTA had the whole time it was withering away over months. Never fully opened.

Dont know what to do as everything else in my tank looks good. Weird thing is, where he is upside down on the ledge, it doesnt recieve any light... And hes not moving to a lighted location. This is the exact same thing that happened.

Not sure why. But BTA's do not like my tank.Maybe, ill do a water change and see what happens.

Perhaps you need to look at your lighting.

Cant be the lighting. This is one of the new 350 led reefbreeder programmable fixtures.

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but my newly found LFS told me that RBTA are hardier than GBTA (in terms of keeping in aquariums). Perhaps you may just give this new one some time and you may have a different outcome than the GBTA. So perhaps not all BTA's are equal in terms of their hardiness in our systems. From everything I've read (and I've been doing a ton on keeping anemones), your system should be able to support it fluorishing.

I have kept numerous BTA and GBTA under PC lighting, T5 and MH.

LED I have never used. If a BTA can thrive under PC lighting maybe the Reefbreeders are too strong and the Anemone need to acclimate to the lighting.

They are extremely hardy Anemones, so I can figure out the issue.

May be post an image and let us take a look.

Also, i dont believe the LED's are too strong since I dont even have them at full power. I slowly ramp the blues up then whites and back down. At the highest, the whites and blues are maybe at 60%?
