A friend wants to trade me a green bubble tip anemone but I've noticed it's slightly transparent, does that mean it's bleached? Also I've seen it with it's mouth open quite a bit. It swells up real nice looks good, but it's mouth does seem to be open. My system is seems a little "better" then his and I got better lights. If it is unhealthy could I possibly bring it back to better health with clean stable water, good lights, and feedings of silversides?

its probably bleached, how long has he had it? if hes had it over 5-6 months than i would take it from him. if you keep on top of water changes and such it will get better in your tank

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
BTA come in a extremely wide array of colors, so I would just google images of bleached BTA and see if it is indeed bleached.

They are also amazingly resilient, so if your tank is stable and you have better lighting I would give it a go. Some gaping is to be expected, constant gaping no.

I think he's had the nem about three months now but he did say it closes up a lot at night. Any ideas why it does? Also how often should I feed it trying make it healthier?

Anemones do close at night not uncommon.

I would only feed once every 2 weeks, if your lighting is sufficient, IMO.

Oh I did not know they close at night. I think I'll take, I got room for it. My clowns killed almost all my corals wanting a host. I recently got a rose bubble and it seems to be doing great, it doesn't close at night though.
