Ha ok so i order a TDS probe just cuz.. so to daY when it arrived in the mail i took it out and naturally started testing any and all water i could (unrelated to aquarium) :p.
I have a Pur filter (same thing as Brita) on my tap water used for drinking and i wanted to test the TDS coming out of it. So i did. the reading of the water w/out the filter was at ~145 and the reading of the water with the filter was at ~160! (tested water 3 times) WHY? i know the filters are only there to remove metals and a few other thing but i would at least think the TDS reading would be the same??
    better off w/out filter?
although it is good to know that my RODI TDS meter is still accurate.
anywho, have a good weekend all!! and if you need your :toilet: water tested ...

Its just a carbon filter mostly designed to remove odors, and not big enough to have any affect on TDS. Probably also time to change the cartridge.

you haev a low incoming TDS. be happy. mines at 350 on my water source. thankfully still dripping 0 out of the RO/DI unit. causes me to have to replace filters more often though. you have half my TDS so you're lucky :)
