Hey everyone.. While watching my tank today I found a bristle worm. He is half bright red and half black. And little white things all around. He is no larger than 1' ( maybe 2cm)

is it safe to keep?? I saw him in my snake coral. (came with it I guess)

Generaly speaking is it safe to keep any bristle worm?

Yes they are thought of as good detritus eaters. If it starts to get too large you may want to evict him before he has an appetite change.

I have a bunch in my fuge crawling around my chaeto. I'm sure they're in my DT as well. I've never had problems with them. Just don't touch them. They back a might sting and the bristles fall off and stick to your skin like a porcupine.

Ha i hope they dont sting that bad. I was just messing with my girlfriend picking off pods and a couple very small bristle worms from a filter pad i was changing and tossing them at her. the funny thing was that she wanted to know where i was throwing the filter away fearing the house was going the be infested with "aquatic bugs"
