Ok, good news. Yesterday after trying to vac the powder the tank became a mess again. I put a dose of Crystal Clear in to get the particles to stick together. This morning most of the cloudiness was gone and there was a layer of reddish powder on the bottom. When I tried to vac that up it worked great. The CC turned the powder into something more like chicken skin so when I sucked it up it didn't fly everywhere. I think I'm coming to the end of this debaucle.

Karma is something that we add to each other for a good answer to a question or for a good idea. On your posts the icon that looks like scales gives us the ability to give you karma and on ours you can give it to us.

+k for asking all the questions!

Giving karma is pretty much saying, "here, have a cookie for whatever you did". It's a type of forum reward for people. Here karma is given (sometimes) to people who have suffered a loss, answered a good question, or made you shoot coffee through your nose because of laughing so hard.

Your refugium will help a TON with algae control, so no worries there. A good, modestly priced skimmer would be something of the Reef Octopus brand. We have the smallest in sump octopus and it kicks butt.
