If algae is present, the phosphate might not show up on a test. The fact there is algae tells me there is phosphate at least.

I would go ahead with several 20 % water changes in a short period of time. Phoslock, phospure or any of that in a bag or reactor will help you fis the issue as well.

I don't think your lights are the cause after you said that the lights are fairly new.

My lights are on for 8 hours a day. I used to test for NO3 and always got 0 and Phosphate always read 0 both on API test. I run Pura Complete in my HOB AquaClear 50 Filter. Maybe the Reactor would do a better job. I would never get those Aquamaxx bulbs again . For about 2.5 months the one bulb would always look like a 10k and the other a 14 k. I don't know if its the Sunpod. Most likely its the bulb but then again I changed bulbs and I still had that problem. Now a few weeks later both bulbs look about 14K.

I have a Aqua Remora SKimmer, 3 Koralia 1's , 1 Koralia Nano, with the Aquaclear 50 HOB Filter. I noticed whenb my lights came on today the one side after 15 secs suddenly clicked and started going more yellow. the one MH bulb looks 14 K and the other 10K. They are both 14K Aquamaxx bulbs. Now 30 Minutes later and the right is looking more blue. I wonder if I have a ballast issue. I called the company that makes the ballast for Current-Usa and they said if I had a ballast problem the light would not go on at all.

Hmm, I did some reading about aquamax bulbs, and I have seen a few bad reviews of them. You might be onto something with the brand of bulb.
