I went with blue and I'm super glad I did! Looks great... I don't think I'll ever paint another tank black.

OK, I had painted mine Black.

NOw is 3-4+ shades of lavender and purlpe, on the INSIDE!

I think the corralline growing on my back wall looks great!

    VERY little black seen thru.

Check out one of my DT vids- in the sig- they are short

Black. It has to be black. I suppose its an aesthetic choice, but blue gets dirty easily and shows depth of glass in a way that makes it look wrong.

For what its worth, my next tank will be far enough away from a wall on all sides to get a flipper in easily and have as little painted as possible. I actually like bare glass as long as you can hide the wires, fittings, etc. effectively.

My wrasse was a rescue- a LFS was cycling his tank with him. I don't recommend one, and I bought this one against my own better judgement as they can be difficult to feed and are usually short-lived in captivity. That said, mine loves Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef and Formula One flakes and has grown to twice his original size since February.

I like black! If you are planing on using paint there is a better alternative. I used to paint the back of my tanks until I discovered the black Oceanvision background. Its a vinyl adhesive film that looks amazing! This is their product description.

Oceanvisions is a vinyl, water proof "sticker" background which eliminates water stains, salt/lime buildup, dirt and any other foreign matter from ever appearing on the back glass of your aquarium. The background is waterproof and lasts for years and it is easy to remove when redecorating your tank.

For one of my tanks someone painted a swirly kind of background for me and I tacked it to the wall behind the tank and it adds a little extra dimension to the tank. Use your imagination and make it yours...

I painted the back of the tank black tonight. It already looks fantastic, I will take some pics tomorrow in full light and post a contrasting photo.

    Im extremely happy with it.
