I was wondering how I could make a hermit crab tank? I just want to breed hermit crabs, and maybe sell them cheap on cragslist. But how could I set up their tank like? Just like any salt water tank with crabs in there? Like could i do it in small 4-8 gallon tank?

Also how could I breed them?

Well, apparently it's not that rare, but it's not easy either. I can say that if you're in this hobby to make money, you're going to be sorely disappointed! We saw several speakers a couple of weekends ago, and one of them discussed fish breeding. All of the breeders that he interviewed (a lot of the big ones), regardless of how successful they were, said they didn't even break even with the costs of breeding. They did it because they loved it.

Here's an older thread I found on hermit breeding. Marine Ornamental Fish & Invert Breeders Association • View topic - Clibanarius erythropus

I know a lot of breeders. It truly needs to be a labor of love. About the only thing that I can think of where you could actually make money is Berghia or chaetomorpha algae.

Yes, breeding anything in this hobby is a labor of love, plus its costly and very very few are successful.
If you really want to breed them you might want to read through some to the threads on MOFIB the
site that SushiGirl gave you. There are allot of people on there that can tell you what you need to do.

i just wanted to do it for fun and yes the love lol. I really dont think selling hermit crabs for 25 cents each will even pay for its filter electricity.
Just in it for the experince and the fun of setting up a pico tank, which i really wanted to do

and thanks for the link sushigirl, i appreciate it
