Blowing off Rock -- Does it ever end?

I blow off my rock twice a week and polish the water maybe twice a month.

Does it ever get to be less junk flying off rocks or is this just the way it is?

system is like 2 month old not a huge load either.

14 gallon 14 lbs live rock
2 clown small 1 royal gramma 1 cleaner shrimp
4 nassasari snail 4 nerite 10 cerith 5 very small blue leg
5 scarlet reef

oh and a baby cerith or two I guess they are breeding

 

In the beginning keeping the water clear can be a problem, but after about 4 to 6 months, it gets a lot easier.

You may be overfeeding

 

I blow the stuff off my rocks every other night. I think its actually like that reef snow that you can buy, when I do it all my porcelain crabs come out and my coral extend their polyps so it provides food for some of your filter feeders

 

I was having a ard time feeding in the beginning but I have that down now.

My water change procedure is as follows:

I hang my magnum HOT with micron filter and blow off rock.
I let water clear
While that is going on I clean the glass a little and I also replace filter floss
then do it a few more times until there is nothing to blow off.
Then I change water 20%
Then I turn Magnum HOT back on till water is clear again.

Well filter floss is changed almost every day or two anyway.
