Just got my self two Hawaiian feather dusters. They adapted well in the tank and were going about business the normal way. They spewed out some brown smoke a few days back, which is also normal, or so I deduce from whatever I have read till now. Last night my wife and I could swear one of them looked much bigger. It looks as if the tube is housing two of them.I did not pay too much attention to what it's mouth looked like first, but now it looks like the number 8. Are these two of them or still one which just grew overnight?:confused1

Featherdusters can reproduce both sexually and asexually! Does the one depict two mouths?
It is very well possible that your duster is reproducing and eventually will split and form another tube(daughter) separate from the mother duster. The black matter being released by the feather that you experienced may have been a release of gametes into your water!

I would have to say that the reproductive method being displayed by the feather duster is asexual, not sexual.
