Well, my Monti cap completely bleached after I dipped it in a homemade iodide bath in an effort to rid itself of white nudibranchs. I left the white skeleton in the tank with a sliver of hope that it may recover. Now you can clearly see the new growth on the old skeleton.

100% sure. i can see the polyps within the purple sections. It's a grape monti, btw. The yellow/orange in the polyps really pop with just my blue lights on. Its been getting deeper in color everyday and it's spread a little.

What's dead is dead. You could frag, but I'd leave it, the new growth will eventually start growing over the old growth, it will be easier on the remaining little living pieces.

And check every day for more nudi's, there may have been some left in your aquarium. They're a pain to get rid of, your best bet at this point is the manual check and removal for a couple of weeks. Check the whole frag closely with a flashlight while in the water, especially the profile, a couple of hours after lights out.

Thanks. I'll keep my eyes peeled. The entire thing was bleach white until last Thursday, which is when the purple popped up. Does that change your opinion?

I had a similar experience with a superman monti. I bleached it when I upgraded to a Radion. I was going to pull it, but there was a tiny bit of life on one side, so I left it. That was in May and it is now beginning to cover the dead skeleton and has acclimated to the new light regimen. I also accidently broke a tiny piece off of a setosa. I left it on the rockwork and now have two beautiful setosas.

Neat to hear that you had a similar experience. Here's a close up I took the other day.
