Thanks 1.0 but I'm not getting the whole planted tank thing. Not sure why, just isn't jumping off the page at me.

    Any other thoughts?

A palludrium is interesting, but seems like it could be a PITA.

still researching mantis, seems a few smaller species may be ok???

A planted tank using Java Fern and Anubias species for plants should work well. Ornamental FW shrimp or some of the very small Tetras or Rasboras are good or a Badis badis tank.

You could use whatever substrate you want since both plants pull most of there nutrients from the water column.

    Thx

I'm gonna research these and make a decision between
    1 maxi mini
    2 goby/pistol shrimp/softy
    3 planted tank as suggested
    4 another dwarf seahorse tank

    hmmm

Tough decision there as they are all good.
