So I've always wanted a black and white occ. unfortunately they are REALLY hard to find where i life, the pet store that got ONE. refused to sell it because they never get them. That being said i found ONE place line that sells them, which was a pretty exciting find. But my fear is that it would have an orange face and not be just black and white. So i emailed the company and they told me that, they become completely black and white over time. Now i'm not so sure i want to believe them just like that, does anyone on here know for sure? Do they always have the sunburnt face or do they really become black and white when their older?

Yes its true. The orange is present as juveniles, and they will turn all black as they mature

I don't want to say your wrong but my LFS had a tank of about 12 ranging all sizes and all but one had orange in there face. The one without orange was small in size I took him home and he has not changed I was told some just change. maybe there is someone that started with a orange face that has turned black as it matured, it would be nice to know

How long have you had it? Size has nothing to do with maturity ;) It can take up to a couple of years, maybe even more, for the clown to become fully mature

Mine is 4 months old and he is all black. I know size has nothing to do with maturity I was just saying that 1 out of 12 was all black and my LFS told me some change color and some don't no explaination why. Thats why I got the one without any orange didn't want to chance it. Again it would be nice to hear from someone that had one witch has changed from orange to all black.

I don't feel like chancing it either. Any idea how I can find an all black one? I regularly visit like 12 diff fish stores and have only seen ONE all black one in the last 6 months.

I am also looking for full black and white but it does seem that not all completely lose the burnt orange. Liveaquaria has some for sale from england and they show an adult with burnt orange face. They even say in the description they will retain the orange around the face.

Wish my tank was fully cycled when my LFS had a bunch in as they were completely black and white stripped and just incredible. Just going to have to wait for the next load which is probably a few months or more away. This is one fish I need to see in person in order to buy.
