That's what I've always used. Always went with the blue, but I've seen a lot of fantastic tanks with black backgrounds, as well. Decided to paint the back of my latest tank, then couldn't decide on blue or black. Ended up going with deep purple. Actually looks pretty cool. (sorry, no pics ATM.)

Actually window tint isnt the easiest thing in the world to apply. And if you want to take it off you need to razor blade the whole tank to get rid of the adhesive residue. If you paint with plastidip it goes on super easy and to remove you can peel up one edge and peel the whole thing off in one peice. No scraping. Just my 2cents.

As for Triplemom and her back wall of non-coralline, she's pretty OCD about it. The urchin and snails sure help, but her trick is to also prevent it from building up to begin with. She literally magfloats the back glass.

On that note, we actually found the perfect sheet of clear plastic at Lowe's today, and it is a perfect fit between our stand and canopy. We plan on painting one side blue and one side black, and then just flip-flopping between the two as needed. It will also make things easier to just take the sheet off so she can magfloat the glass :D

We will definitely take pictures of the black vs blue when everything is up and running. That way other people will have an idea on what they like or don't like, especially after seeing the same tank with both colors. Black vs blue always seems to come up when new people are entering the hobby for the first time. Or second time, like us 8)

You calling me OCD, boy???? Well, I am, especially about my tank glass!

I am excited about the plastic sheet that we can flip around...and remove to mag-float the back glass :)
