kinda want to bump this just to get an update. i started my NPX less than a week before you (without dosing the microbater) and i just hit a bloom today. tank is pretty milky looking. ph is down to 8.02 on day cycle, nitrates are down between 0-5(as accurate as it gets with api). not sure about the rest as i have no faith in api tests anymore.

I never had a bacterial bloom....though I have heard of many people that have had it around day 5. In fact the owner of the LFS said that he could almost not see the fish in the tank due to the bloom.

I am going to be testing my tank in the morning to see how it is going but everything looks really well. The skimmate is much more then I have ever had....and different color. It is more watery and greenish then before. I have had to adjust it a couple times.

I have gone to only dosing microbacter 1x a week instead of the way directions stated (daily x 2 weeks then 1x week) I did dose everyday for 8 days.

I also used only half the recommended amount of pellets Do you have a good rumble in your reactor? I have had to adjust it a couple of times as the pellets got more bacteria on it. Right now the reactor is open full force

good luck and keep updating also

I have had high nitratesfor 4 years had a heavier bio load and wanted to lean towards corals. I started using bio pellets about 6 weeks ago and my test kit actually 3 test kits elos, salifert, and red sea all read zero although probally impossible and just undectitectible by test lol but this is down from the 20-30 I had for years. I also had my lfs test my water today also with a zero reading. I have been adding sps over the last few weeks as I also want a sps dominate tank. The corals look great and I have never had 0 or so low or not reading nitrate ever. Best investment I made to date. I actually bought all new test kits elos today just to have current kits and did a full test and am happy I did that although my wallet is not.

So it's official, bio-pellets are not a gimmick but a real, quality product when used(almost) as directed.

Yes, I have a decent tumble and I used 200 ml in a 150 reactor with maxijet 1200 wide open. The little cyano i had is now all gone too. The only thing that concerns me at all is the affect on my PH. I understand why it's occurring but I need to know if I need to dose to push it back up or just wait for it to rebound. Gunna wait it out unless told otherwise

schackmel I want you to pay attention to the growth of your zoas if you have any.
Me and another person on here think we have noticed increased zoas growth with bio-pellets.

I hypothesize: It's either the super clean water or the zoas are eating bacteria the pellets put out.
