Lately when I turn the lights and fans on in my hood it sounds like a friggin outboard off in the distance. Any ideas? This hood is only about four months old at this point.

fans probably have some rusty bearings and or salt creep in the fans

I would try cleaning out the fans in the hood. My RSM had a similar problem, due to salt buildup. The fans eventually may seize up.

Yep, all they are is computer fans, they go bad all the time at work and I have to repalce them. And thats a pretty good description of the noise they make when they go bad.

My 8 gallon biocube had the same problem. Had to replace the fan.

oceanic is actually an awesome customer service oriented company. I have had a few issues with my BC14 and everytime they have sent me new parts no questions asked!!! Even bulbs!!!!!

Call them and describe the problem. They will likely have a new part out to you in days!!!

Thanks guys, that's kind of what I was expecting to hear but it's surprising and irritating that it's so new to have this problem.

I'll take a stab at cleaning it tonight otherwise I'll get ahead of Oceanic CS
