    Sand like playground sand can be too fine for triggers if they stir up the substrate. I burned out two Mag 24 impellers that way. An aragonite that is about 1/8" in size is a better way to go. CC is not so good.

    Hrm...did you end up using a "gravel vacuum" on the sand?

    Ok, so I'll be getting one or two power heads...

    Now tell me about the crushed coral.. LFS recommended it (before I knew of this forum!)

    i just noticed how many fish and what kind of fish you have in the 37, the lack of oxygen is IMO being caused bc your overstocked.

    Well, it catches lots of detritus, which requires lots of cleaning.

    I was asking if your used a gravel vacuum on your sand, because you're really not supposed to, or you get problems with the sand never "congealing" so it doesn't go flying all over the tank so easily.

    Ok, Got the Rio 200 Powerhead today. Plenty of surface agitation now. Fish seem happy and the tank looks a lot cooler too. :)

    If you have live rock,

    I would ditch the bio-wheel as the cons outweighs the positive. The amount of bacteria the bio-wheel collects in respect with the live rock in the tank is negligible.
