has anyone had any success with keeping your sump in the basement?

i ask this because my return pump is very noisey, and the ol lady is starting to complain about it. (my office is right beside the master bedroom)

my only concern with doing this is the temp differance between the house and basement. I could get a nother heater to add to the sump, and lower my MH's an inch or two to help keep it warm through the winter (im in CT).

    any thoughts/concerns/wisdom is welcome:)

The boss is complaining means you have to make it happen. Having a sump in a different room is kind of what I'd like to do when I can afford a house in the future.

You should check out Computer John's build thread if you havent. He even built a room for the sump from scratch right below the main tank in the living room. Great thread.

Tanks looking good tho, Billie! and congrats on the CB!

It's suggested to introduce tangs last into the tank. But in your case, I know you bought the system as a whole so... the tang might stress the crap out of him. You dont happen to have another tank laying around, do you? You can set up a "time out" tank temporarily, and put the yellow tang for a few weeks to reset the territory for everyone in the tank, IF you wanna keep them all.

he has until the morning to stop messin with my CBB, if not then the tang will be taken to the LFS.

if the CBB doesnt make it through the night, then the YT will be bird food in the morning.

In this hobby, sooner or later, you have to make a choice or two, even tho it's not always what you like.

yea, idk if its that bad tho, im jsut worries ya know, CBB arnt cheap, plus the hour drive on way to teh LFS. dont want my money to go to waste ya know? the CBB doesnt seem too stressed over it, the YT and CBB duke it out for a minute or two, and then the tang goes back to his cave, and the CBB goes back to grazin on the rocks.
