Hey guys im in cancun atm and there is all this coral on the beach beacuse they are bringing new sand in from the ocean and as i was walking i started collecting it and then i decided that when i got back to my house in Chicago that i would buy a 100 gallon tank and set it up and have a nice looking aquarium. i already have some coral at my house but i collected about 2 bags of coral as i was walking on the beach so i think i will have enough i guess i need to be familiarized with everything like the words for example what is cycling and i also need to know all the things that i will need to do when i get back home like EVERYTHNIG, im also sure that no one is going to go and right all of this out but some links to some sites for purchasing epuiptment what equipment i need and some links to some other threads on this forum explaining things i need to know. Im sorry if there is some thread out there summing this all up for me but i just created the accout today and i havent done anything but review the rules

    thank you /LILMOPHO

    Welcome...

:) Yeah please explain. Sadly How would you get it back to the US? Customs would check that stuff I'd assume? Also you kinda need to set up a tank and have it cycled to provide a good home for the animals. :) Maybe Im just reading this wrong cause its late and all.

If it was collected loose on the beach I would assume it's coral skeletal structure. If customs will allow you to bring it, it should make great base rock.

Ah Sorry if that's what you meant! Bit late and bit tired! Still would have to go through customs I would imagine and they are picky from what I heard about my friends trip to Mexico and Australia? But that makes more sense though.

That would be dead...It will look nice for a few days, then Algae will cover it. Algae will not grow on live coral in general.
