I just got a bi color blenny last night and he did not eat last night or today. I usually feed frozen mysis, krill, marinecuisine. I have 2 oscellaris and a mandarin. Will he just take more time to come out and eat or should I try something else? I am trying to avoid adding too much food(nutrients) to the tank. I dont have any nuisance algae in the tank either. I can get those seaweed strips?

It might take a few days for him to eat. Sometimes, it will take them to get really hungry then try it. Other times, when a fish is not eating it means that they are sick, or just stressed. If this is the case, they may begin to eat or may not. You could try the seaweed strips, but Im not sure if they will help.

Acclimation time is always key and is not the same for all fish species or even same species for that matter! It is best to give the fish time and maintain what has worked for you thus far with your other livestock. The Blenny will eventually begin to feed unless it is not healthy from the getgo! Sometimes a week may be a suitable time frame before the fish eats. The toehr thing is that your fish may in fact be eating but you don't notice it as they will feed on foodstuff on live rock and in the sand for example!

I think you should have quarintine the fish first before introducing him to the display tank just for safety reason. New fish will have less stress by itself in the quarintine tank and it will be easy for him to recuperate when there is less stress around it. It will be easy for him also to find out the types of food he prefers to eat. In QT, you can also decreased the salinity to helps remove parasites preventing him to transfer them to other fish in the main tank.

Hey! Try soaking your food in garlic extract! It works with almost all fish! If it doesn't work, watch your new blenny carefully! It might be sick...

Give it some time - u can try some dried seaweed to entice him but I wouldn't worry - tough fish and from my experience with this one, you should see him eat in a few days

I did notice him nipping on the LR so I suppose he is eating. I will try the dried seaweed maybe leave it in for a little. I just dont want to add any unneccesary nutrients. He is also making home in the output of my jbj powerhead UV filter.(Its not plugged in because I was waiitng for a new bulb but now that I got the bulb I dont want to take away his home by turning it on.

    Bi Color Blenny

I have the Bicolor Blenny , a mandarin and a pair of Oscellaris clowns. Any other fish I can add that would be compatible but also has personality liek the Blenny. I dont think I want a fish that swims around much simply because the female clown might pick on it. My clown killed my fairy wrasse after 6 months of having him.

Thats a tuff one! Any fish that resembles the blenny will be attacked by him. Even certain gobys and jawfish I have seen get attacked especially once the blenny is happy and king of the castle. ;) Ever think of gettin a flame hawk?
