Travis has some nice ones... ;)

Leopards? It depends on species. With all of them, once they're established in a tank, they're rather hardy. Now getting one to that pont...

One of the hardest things on them is system transitions. This includes being removed from the ocean. This includes removing one from the store. They go through a "shock" period from this (severity depends on species). They can be difficult to get eating.

My general advice: if you find one in good condition (appears healthy, active, no pinched belly, mouth looks fine, etc; nothing obviously wrong) and it's eating, the odds are in your favor. Otherwise, the odds are stacked high against you.

They're also VERY susceptable to flukes, and often come in with them. Prazi will fix this, however, if they haven't been QT'd and/or treated prior to purchase.

Totally agree with this about leopards. I tried one and it looked real good. Was a female meleagris and actually kept in the fuge and it ate a bit of mysis and I saw it nail some pods. Lights went out that same nigh and never saw it again. That kind of took the wind out of my sail, when it comes to leopards.

Definitely patch that hole and keep with it. Wrasses are definitely some of the coolest fish. Great color and each fish will have its own unique personality. That is my favorite thing about wrasses!!

The easier leopards: M. bipartitus (African leopard, Blue Star Leopard), M. meleagris (usually just labeled as "Leopard wrasse")

The leopards are a really cool. I knew someone that has had great success with them. Just got to be thorough inspecting them when you purchase them. Then when you get them in the tank you really have to baby them. They get pushed around by other fish quite easily in the beginning. I do like the line spot, its a nice fish. Also the Longfin is really cool too!

[IMG]ok, just took the dive again, after fixing the little holes in my cover! The LFS had this guy, that they called a carpenter! Pretty sure its not, but he was lively and eating, and in a tank FULL of damsels, do he came home! I'll get a better pic tomorrow, right now he's hiding a bit!

    TIA

EDIT one of the main reasons I feel that, which you can't see, is his dorsal fin isn't connected like a carpenters or similar, but more like linespot with the long fins sticking out more!
