Best fish for hair algae?

    My friend has a 125gallon five foot tank. I suggested a foxface or yellow tang for the algea problem on top of a clean up crew.....Was wondering every one elses thoughts on this! Thanks in Advance!


    Bio load is small he has 2 clowns a few zoas

    filtered by a 30 gallon sump with octo 250 nw skimmer and tons of flow

    I don't know about fish, but I know a pincushion urchin will mow that algae down!

    Yea good point kc! esp now when he doesnt have a lot of corals (2-3 to be exact) would be the perfect time for one!

    Yep, you said just some zoas, so I thought that would probably work okay. When the algae is gone or he gets more corals he can trade it in or whatever!

    mollies? i dont think hes up to getting mollies as they would have to be slowly brough up to the salt level for a reef tank! but the lawn mover blenny is a good idea idk how i didnt think of that one!

    Well, not really; mollies are used to some pretty big, quick swings in salinity because of their natural habitat. They could likely be acclimated from fresh all the way up to reef salinity in the course of an hour.

    Lawn mower blennys are a good idea, so are the foxface and the yellow tang. I'd think nearly any tang would be a good fit, not just the yellow.

    I aclamated my mollies in about an hour. It’s not hard at all.

    O wow... i did not know that about mollies....also you dont think a yellow would be a good idea? what tangs would be? also you think the foxface would work?
