How has no one pointed this out yet? A pistol shrimp with a watchman goby! We have a tiger pistol and a yellow watchman, and our sand gets turned over all the time. That little pistol bulldozes like a maniac.

I'm also considering adding a Blue Linckia Starfish (Linckia laevigata) and possibly Green Brittle Starfish (Ophiarachna incrassata)

    Anyone have experience with either.

    I'm considering because they:

eat fish feces, dead organisms, and uneaten food"

The green brittle starfish also eat any small fish they can catch.

IME, hermits, especially the blue legged ones, will kill as many snails as they can get their claws on. I have always had a lot of empty shells for the crabs to move into, and they still do it. I also feed a little on the heavy side. I won't put most types of hermits in a reef tank because of their nasty snail eating habits.
I do like the red mexican hermits, and 1 scarlet reef hermit per like 40g or so. Those types of hermits are not snail snarfers.

I would steer clear of the green brittle star. Those are known to eat fish while they sleep.

Blue Linckia stars are not an easy to keep critter. In most cases, they slowly starve to death.

If you want a good serpent star, get a red brittle star, a tiger striped (banded) serpent star, or even a black brittle.
