This is why I mentioned the lighting issue many simply overlook that , with what you now have you could never keep an anemone a set of T5's at least P/C will not keep an anemone very well very long . I have heard and had people to tell me I have P/C's and my BTA is doing great! and ta that time it maybe doing great . The anemone can die very slowly just like many clams suffering from lack of true lighting prower. It can take them a yr or more to die.

My BTA kept shrinking under PCs (4x65W) on a 72g bowfront. I wasn't feeding it anything either. That may have been the problem. It shrunk down to only about 3 inches across.

I upgraded to T5s and started feeding it a few times a week. Now it opens to about 8 inches across. I don't feed it anymore either. My tomato clown that is hosting it does that for me now.

My ocellaris would never host it even when it was veryhealthy when I first got it. Finally gave up and bought a tomato clown. It wouldn't host it either until the anemone's health improved by better lighting and feeding.

Honestly,I would say this is almost the most-asked question on message boards. In general, the most common clowns we all tend to buy are the Ocellaris and True Percs. The natural host anemones for these clowns are pretty much the most difficult to keep and not recommended unless you are quite experienced and ready to accept a certain amount of heartache.
The BTAs are the most commonly available hosting anemones and also considered the hardiest so just about anyone would recommend this species as your first anemone. The only problem is, it is not a natural host for either the Ocellaris or True Percula clowns. Many people put this combo of fish and nem in their tank and get frustrated when hosting does not occur but you have to understand it is not natural, so there really is no guarantee, but it is possible.

Thanks for the suggestion on the lighting. I won't be anywhere near getting new lights for awhile since the pcs are only a few months old. I could probably talk my wife into letting me get a sports car before something big, new and shiny for my tank;)
