I bought a bunch of used stuff the other day and he included this Red Sea Protein Skimmer and pump I'll picture. When I tested it the pump made noise but wasn't getting any water into the skimmer, or even pumping any water period. My friend has a pump to an old SeaClone skimmer, its a Maxi-Get 1200 (295 gph)

Is this a powerful enough pump to try to connect with the Berlin Skimmer?

Or Should I just buy on of these:

    Thanks!

Looks to me like the MJ may be a bit too small. Since you already have it, it won't hurt anything to try it, just don't be too disappointed if it doesn't work.

Have you tested it away from the skimmer to see if it is actually even working or just making noise?

It could be the needle wheel. I would replace that unless the needle wheel costs as much as a new pump.
