Baffles

    I have a 55 gallon tank im turning into a sump...How tall should i make the baffles?

    I would recommend leaving 3"-6" from the top of the tank. You need some room so when the elec. goes out, you'll have some room for the water that will syphon down.

    It all depends on how big the tank is compared to the sump and how much the water level is ABOVE the overflow when it's running... but for the most part I agree with Luna... if you have an appropriately sized sump then you should be ok with leaving that gap.

    If you're gonna run your skimmer in your sump remember to see what water level it runs in (mine is 8-10" of water) and if you run it deeper you will have to have something to raise it up to keep it at the right level.Agree with Luna on leaving enough room not to overflow.

    I actually have 2 55 gallon tanks...one is going to be a fuge and the other is going to be return and skimmer.
