That is a good point as well. If this is the case, I would run additional carbon to take care the toxins in the water. You could also get some seachem purigen to take care of the ammonia as well.

I took a picture but it's really hard to notice the cloudy water. Just looks like I took a bad picture. I dont have any brittle stars or an anemone. My HOB refugium arrived the day after this started and I put that in with a DSB.

Nitrite is at 0 and Nitrates are at 10. I didn't feed Tuesday or Wednesday and I have some carbon running right now and I did a 30% ish water change as well.

I have some xenia, yellow fiji leather coral, and a red mushroom frag I recently bought. The xenia was my first coral and the leather has been in there for a month +. I made sure to separate the leather from my LPS and both seemed to be doing fine until the milky water. Opening like usual, didn't see any shedding.

Ammonia is at zero and no new fish additions. I didn't add live rock, but I added some more dead rock that I ordered from ReefCleaners. I rinsed it really well before adding it.

I setup a temporary holding tank for my corals, minus the pink mushroom and xenia. When I woke up this morning their water was white also. I used a fresh batch of saltwater, dipped everything before I transferred it, but used one piece of LR from my DT.

    Stumped.

Well my Duncan is officially dead :( crazy how it can go from the picture in my avatar to dead in a few days. It started losing the skin along it's stalk and then the rest just withered away ovenight.

How is your xenia doing? I noticed that around the time my tank started having problems, my xenia died as well. I don't know if the xenia caused my problems or not, but after I removed all the dead xenia, my tank got better. Just a thought.

My xenia never looked horrible, just not happy through the whole ordeal. Later on this evening my xenia finally started to open up like normal and pulse again.

I put my zoas back in the tank and they opened up all the way.

Now just sitting and waiting to see what happens with the LPS in the temporary tank. Don't know what else to do. The white is fading more, hopefully this ordeal is over soon.

Thank you for all the help and suggestions thus far guys.

Well yesterday the water was cleared up on it's own, but not before killing my duncan and torch. I wish I knew what it was. Over the course of those 5 days, the skin on the LPS corals seemed to be coming off. Like they were either melting away or something was eating it down.

I've attached a picture of my torch afterwards. You can see that the flesh is just gone and the stony part of the coral is the only thing left.

If anyone has any ideas what might have got me so I can avoid it in the future, I would greatly appreciate it.

I wonder if the cloudiness killed the corals, or if the corals were dying causing the cloudiness?
