Last night my tank was completely normal and when I woke up this morning my water was a cloudy white. I looked it up and it matches the description of a bacteria bloom. The only thing I did differently was grab RO water from a machine last night because I needed to top off my tank and my LFS was closed.

I recently started feeding frozen mysis and I'm still learning how much everyone eats, pretty sure I over fed. I also didn't rinse it at first, which may have also caused this?

I did a 30% ish water change and and put in some carbon in my tank. I also tested my water and everything is at zero, nitrates around 10 ppm. My fish seem fine, but all of my corals have been pretty closed up the whole day. They aren't completely shut, but just barely open.

If this goes away in a few days, then it is a bacteria bloom right? How long should I wait before I begin to worry?

Maybe someone stored the sand...? Bacteria blooms usually last a few days-a week for me(but that's FW). If all levels are good I doubt that's it.

Usually don't hear about bacteria blooms in saltwater, but I'm sure they can happen. I would increase your carbon and see if that helps with the cloudy water.

I had a BAD phytobloom. Spent a couple hundred to overnight a UV then that night put in carbon. Next morning crystal clear and I'm selling a UV interested?

No, feeding unrinsed mysis won't cause cloudy water unless you have a ton of it lying on the bottom. However, it will most likely raise your phosphate and nitrate levels enough to provoke nuisance algae blooms. Rinsing will alleviate that dramatically as most of the po4 and no3 are in the processing fluids and preservatives.

If the ro filter was properly maintained, there are still a number of pollutants that ro alone will not remove and for which we cannot test. Without knowing that or their source, it's anyone's guess what might have been in the water that could cloud your tank.

This happened to me once. Found my skimmer cup wasn't on tight enough ;)

Things are not looking great for my LPS corals, idk what to do. It seems as if their skin is separating from the stony part of their bodies. My softies aren't opening up all the way, but they don't look affected like my LPS corals.

They are also giving off this slimy white stuff. Almost as if they are shedding.

The milky white water has lessened since Tuesday, but it's still there. I have no idea what it is.

About the UV sterilizer, don't have the money for one right now plus I wouldn't want to invest in something before I know what my problem is.

Do you have a good LFS that you could take a water sample into to have it tested?

They do free testing, but just the standard params.

I'm at work now, so sadly I can't do anything until I get home. I sent my wife to grab a small power head, so I'm going to set up a little frag tank in a bucket until I ind out what's going on. Hopefully they can recover in there.

That description sounds more like an ammonia spike, or possibly a large swing in alkalinity.

Have you run all of the tests?
