    And if you do is there a color that is better

    I have one tank that's clear, and on my other tank I have a black background. I just bought the cheap paper kind from the LFS so I can change it whenever I want.

    I like black as well it makes for a very high contrast but everyone has there own cup of tea

    i go with black. i used krylon fusion black spray paint. it adheres very well to acrylic as well as glass and looks very nice. just my 0.02

    Well I like dark blue backgrounds as well as black backgrounds. I think both colors bring out a lot of contrast. :)

    If you decide to use the paper background,tape all of the edges entirely,this will help to keep it flat against the glass and keep salt creep from getting between the glass and background.

    Also, use photo double sided adhesive to adhere the background. It is strong and disappears - looks nice and clean!
